Pushing envelopes…
A real princess will always pick up your teacup if you drop it…
—kindness is practically their middle name—
but this was not the only reason she did so…
There was a light in the prince’s dark eyes which reminded her of all the stars in the night sky…
It did not escape the queen’s notice that as the girl bent down she let out a cry something a bit like OUCH…
“Whatever is the matter, my dear???” asked the king…
“I’m all aches and pains today and I just don’t know why…
And I feel so awful when you went to so much effort,
and how ungrateful I must seem,
and I hope you will forgive me…”
But there was nothing to forgive because,
as anyone will know,
a girl who can turn black and blue when a tiny, tiny pea-green garden pea is placed under twelve feather mattresses,
must surely be a real princess…

When you start a new knitting project,
the first thing you need to check is your tension,
or your project won’t work out the way you want it to…
My tension has always been consistent,
and regular,
but I’m not one for following instructions,
so my end products were always really much bigger than I wanted them to be…
I always seemed to make things so much larger than life…
I’m getting better at following instructions,
but I still make allowances for myself to shift dimensions,
alter patterns,
and fit my current form…
It’s elementary…
Last week I went to sleep wearing some brand new,
only been washed once,
pyjama pants I’d just bought at the Great Canadian Superstore…
They are from the Joe Fresh line,
and they are so pretty…
I had a fitful sleep,
full of dreams about sweatshop workers and people locked up in factories…
People separated from their children,
and partners,
way before until death do us part…
In one of the dream segments I was relieving myself in a stall beside a young chinese girl…
We both felt shame and humiliation,
as neither of us had the privacy we wanted,
or needed,
to do our business…
When we each emerged from the stall we had to report to a woman with a clip board…
She was keeping track of the quantity of our urine,
and our days of menstruation,
so that we couldn’t tell lies about our levels of production…
Some people would say that I must be crazy,
and way too sensitive…
I would tell them,
I’ve heard that one before,
and that I am exactly what Great Spirit delivered…
I am simply a product of all of my experiences,
since the beginning of time,
rolled up into this very special package…
Apparently Ryan Johnson is on the road to recovery with his first skate after his broken foot injury at the end of the regular season…
I would say that he’s pushing things a bit…
I know what it is like to be out of the game,
watching from the sidelines,
when you want to be in the thick of everything,
doing what you came here to do…
But I trust him to know when the time is right…
Who am I to hold anyone back from what they want,
and what they believe in???
Especially when they take their freedom with responsibility,
and they comprehend the work required to earn a Stanley Cup…
I went for my first roller-blade of the post-season this week,
and it hurt…
No blisters…
Just a couple of shinsplints,
and a royal pain in the ass…
I have no idea how the Canucks do it,
game after game…
It’s a mystery to me…
Skating around at high speed on thin ice isn’t the most difficult thing I’ve ever done,
but it sure isn’t easy…
And I’m going as slow as I can…
