Bird house…

September 9, 2009

Last night Little Gem (6 yrs old) and I were in the tub…

I like it really hot ,

and some time to myself,

at first…

She keeps calling from her shoe box room,

to see if it is time yet,

for her to inch her way in…

There’s something about water,

and what it does for your mind,

and body…

All the debris of the day slips right off…

and spins down the drain…

for a new tomorrow…

While we were sitting there,

she noticed that she’s getting too big,

for us to be in our five foot claw foot tub,

together…

She knows that the days of this kind of Mamatime are numbered,

but we can see other kinds of special times coming,

one thing always leads to another…

And as we’re sitting there she asks me,

Mama, have you ever been in hell before…

There’s a fine line in between fact and fiction,

but I prefer to walk a line of truth…

I think I have, I say…

When???

Was it before you came into this life???

Maybe,

but sometimes in this life when I feel really bad inside,

or when I see or hear about something really awful,

it feels like this must be hell…

Some people think that hell is a real place on Earth and it is happening right now…

I tend to agree,

not everywhere all of the time because there is also so much amazing beauty…

But sometimes you can’t imagine what people do to each other…

Little Gem said,

Well I think I won’t be going there… to hell…

Not until the end of this life at least…

You know Mama,

we really just live one very long life that never ends…

Just we keep going in and out differently…

Like in this life I’m a girl…

I wondered,

Do you think you’ll want to live another life after this one???

Of course!!!, said Little Gem,

I asked,

Do you think you’ll choose to be a human or an animal next time???

She was clear,

I think I want to be a human being…

And I want to be a girl again…

Because I really like being a girl…

I really like being a girl...

You don't need direction, you know which way to go...
